BetterDocs Pro is a WordPress knowledge base and documentation plugin that helps you create organized, searchable documentation for products, services, or internal processes. Since the 4.x series it also covers interactive API references and in-depth documentation analytics, so a single plugin can serve both your help center and your developer docs.

API Documentation

Point BetterDocs at an OpenAPI/Swagger specification, or import a Postman collection, and it builds a fully rendered, searchable API reference. Each endpoint gets its own documentation page with generated code samples and a "Try it" console for sending live requests through a controlled proxy. Endpoint descriptions can optionally be written for you with AI, and the reference picks up your brand accent colors automatically.

Advanced Analytics

The analytics module tracks article and author performance, reading completion and scroll depth, visitor geography, search terms that return no results, and user feedback ratings. A link health scanner crawls your docs on a schedule and reports broken internal and external links with their HTTP status. AI Traffic insights show how AI assistants and crawlers — ChatGPT, ClaudeBot, Copilot, CCBot, Bytespider, Common Crawl and others — reference your documentation. Every module can be exported to CSV, access is role-based, and events can be forwarded to Google Analytics 4 through the Measurement Protocol.

Git Sync and AI Authoring

Connect a GitHub repository through the built-in GitHub App integration to keep documentation in sync with your codebase, or use "Write with AI from Git" to browse the repository and draft docs from its content. Tokens are refreshed automatically before they expire, so scheduled syncs keep running.

Design and Layout

BetterDocs Pro offers multiple documentation page layouts including grid, list, and card views. Each layout is customizable through Elementor or the built-in customizer with options for colors, typography, and spacing.
